What is a tribute?
TRIBUTE:A tribute is a testament dedicated to building up a person's reputation. Something given or done as an expression of esteem. Something done or created to show thanks or respect. In this case, a deep show of respect and honor to a modern-day hero; one who gave all or part of their lives to the call of reaching children for Christ. Web Links

A Tribute to Jesse Irvin Overholtzer
Perhaps the first tribute should go to the founder of CEF. Jesse Irvin Overholtzer. Growing up in a religious family, Jesse at the age of 12 was convicted of his own sin and sought counsel from his mother. He was told, "Son, you are too young." It wasn't until Overholtzer was in college that he heard the Gospel and trusted Christ as his Savior. Later as a pastor Mr. Overholtzer read one of Charles Spurgeon's sermons which stated, "A child of five, if properly instructed can as truly believe and be regenerated as an adult." The Lord used this statement in Mr. O's life to lead him to begin the ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship when he was 60 years old. You can enjoy more about the story of Jesse and history of CEF by watching the video on this page. Did you know Jesse? Did you serve with him? What does his testimony and legacy mean to you? Share your sentiments and tributes in the comments section at the bottom of this page. 1 comment Jesse O. seemed to be an average man - but this just proves how much God can use any of us if we are willing to be used by him!
